Darren Haruo Rae is a director, writer, and cinematographer located in Los Angeles, CA. After graduating from San Jose State University at the age of 20, Rae was awarded with the Emerson “Doc” Arends award for Excellence in Directing for the Screen. His directorial debut, Park Arcadia, a high concept piece about a young woman who must use her fathers last invention, a dimension jumping watch, to find a reality where he is still alive, won Best Screenplay at the International Film Festival Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles. It was also the runner up at BEA National Screenwriting Competition, and the official selection at the Newport Beach Film Festival, Cinequest Film Festival, and The Miami International Science Fiction Film Festival. 


In addition to his narrative work, Rae has helmed a number of high profile commercials and branded content with clients such as Airbnb, Cisco, and Guess Eyewear. He directed and produced a charity commercial campaign that generated more than $450,000 for high school scholarships for girls. He also directed the intro video for San Jose State football which was a Bronze Telly Winner. 


Rae is the co-founder of the boutique production company Roann Films. He is currently writing and developing his first mini series.
